Working with these roles effectively means more than talking about them. It means engaging with them through action.

The Unburdened Self is a three-day intensive that uses psychodrama to work with internal roles and self-states. Whether you’re familiar with Internal Family Systems (IFS), ego state work, or other parts-oriented approaches, this training explores how psychodramatic methods can help clients (and practitioners) identify, differentiate, and work with the roles we carry.

We’ll practice:

Identifying and working with internal roles using psychodramatic and sociometric methods

Exploring protective strategies and burdened roles without bypassing or overwhelming

Practicing intrapsychic and interpersonal psychodrama to support unblending, differentiation, and integration

Applying action-based methods in clinical work with parts and role systems

This training integrates psychodrama with IFS concepts, but the foundation is psychodrama, sociometry, and group psychotherapy. You don’t need prior IFS or psychodrama training— just openness to working with multiplicity through enactment.

Investment: $600 (discounts available for students)

CEs and psychodrama training credits available

Register here.

Philadelphia Training Group— Final Call

The Philadelphia Training Group begins February 22 with a few last-minute spots available. Registration closes this Friday, February 7, to allow for participants onboarding.

This closed-cohort group meets monthly through June in Fishtown (2/22, 3/29, 4/19, 5/24, 6/28) and focuses on developing comfort and skill in facilitating and experiencing psychodrama, sociometry, sociodrama, experiential therapy, and group psychotherapy.

If you’ve been considering it, this is the week. Registration will not open again until July, 2026. Details at philapsychodrama.com or email haydn@philapsychodrama.com.

Looking Ahead: Courage to Connect

Our second spring intensive, Courage to Connect: Relational Risk and Attachment, runs April 24-26.

This weekend explores how we show up in connection— the risks we take, the protection we carry, and the patterns that keep us safe but alone. For clinicians who want to understand relational work through enactment, not just theory and storytelling.

Full details coming in the next newsletter. Registration now open at philapsychodrama.com.

Ongoing Offerings

Group Supervision continues Thursdays 12-1pm EST via Zoom. We teach experiential therapy— psychodrama, sociometry, and group psychotherapy— to clinicians and facilitators who want to actually know how to use it.

What Makes Us Different (and Why It Matters)

We don’t teach psychodrama as a bag of tricks.

A lot of people learn the moves— role reversal, doubling, empty chair work— and think that’s psychodrama. It’s not.

If psychology is the study of the mind, psychotherapy is therapy of the mind, and psychoanalysis is the analysis of the mind, psychodrama is the drama of the mind— the mind in action.

Psychodrama is about helping people discover what their mind is in action, what they really need to work on, and warming them up to do it at a pace they can actually handle.

That requires reading the room, understanding where someone is in their relational world (sociometry), and learning to follow the client’s or the group’s lead instead of imposing your agenda.

Most trainings focus on what psychodrama looks like. We focus on how to help it emerge.

We work with groups as a whole, not just individuals with an audience.

Even if you’re doing individual therapy, your client exists in a social world. Their struggles live in roles, relationships, and systems.

We teach people to think sociometrically— to understand the group dynamics at play, whether that’s a therapy group, a family, a team, or the internal constellation of roles someone carries.

And yes, we also teach individual psychodrama and how to facilitate experiential intensives. The point is: you learn to work with what’s alive in the room, not on people.

We teach spontaneity and creativity as foundational, not optional.

Spontaneity isn’t about catharsis or letting it rip.

It’s about being able to respond in the moment with what’s actually needed— trusting yourself, trusting the process, and trusting that the group or client is telling you what’s ready.

The work is experiential. You learn by doing.

Not by taking notes. Not by watching demos alone.

By showing up, participating, and letting the work work on you.

If you care about your work, if you think it matters to grow yourself in service of your clients, if you’re willing to take risks and look closely at yourself— this might be for you.

What to Expect from Us

You’ll hear from us 1-2 times a month, max.

No spam. No endless promotional emails (we are already using LinkedIn for that).

Just updates on what’s forming, occasional reflections on the work, and invitations to train with us when it makes sense.

We run quarterly training intensives, ongoing training groups, and a weekly drop-in supervision group (on Zoom).

You can see everything on our calendar or by emailing us at info@philapsychodrama.com.

That’s it.
